Assessment for Learning

Jonathan has a history of engagement within the domain of assessment at a local and national level, with the emphasis of assessment outcomes used to influence and support pupils’ learning needs in order to accelerate pupils’ progress.

He can offer tailored support in order to meet the needs of your school; examples of recently provided support provision include:

  • Development of planning aligned to pupils’ learning needs
  • Exploring effective and accurate assessment strategies

Local Authorities, up until the end of summer term 2023, had a statutory duty in respect of the organisation of the moderation of at least 25% of infant / primary schools to ensure they are consistent with the reporting of end of key stage 1 national standards. Jonathan used to work with Warwickshire LA, providing professional development for the Authority’s team of accredited moderators; empowering them to undertake their external moderation visits, but to also, provide support and guidance within their respective Cluster of schools.

Robust and accurate assessment strategies are an integral component within the tailoring of pupils’ planned learning sequences; a mantra Jonathan has been passionate about throughout his career. Jonathan works with leaders to empower all colleagues to play their crucial role, maximising upon a wide variety of assessment outcomes.
